ATRAD is in constant communications with research groups as well as commercial users of atmospheric radars around the world giving it a global picture of requirements and developments. This has resulted in a number of sustained and mutually beneficial links, with some of the major ones being the following.
| ATRAD is affiliated with the Atmospheric Physics Group of the Department of Physics at the University of Adelaide, and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide. This enables ATRAD to have use of the University's field site at Buckland Park (40km north of Adelaide). With these available facilities ATRAD is able to field test new equipment, from antenna arrays through to their latest data analysis programs. Products are able to be locally field tested before shipping to customers, thereby verifying their performance in the environment they will be actually used in, rather than just relying on bench testing which would be the main alternative technique. This link gives the Atmospheric Physics Group access to the latest equipment, technical advice and assistance, analysis and consultation on recent developments. | |
![]() | Through its affiliation with Adelaide University, ATRAD has formed links with the Antarctic Division's Atmospheric and Space Physics Section which operate a radar at Davis Base in the Antarctic. |
| ATRAD in collaboration with the Bureau of Meteorology has built a prototype VHF ST radar at Mt. Gambier in the SE of South Australia. | |
