Indonesian visitors

ATRAD hosted for three weeks two members of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space organisation from LAPAN - BANDUNG West Java Indonesia.

Mr Effendy and Mr. Erlansya both from the Ionospheric and Telecommunications Division successfully underwent training on the ATRAD Pontianak MF Radar System.

The training covered the following aspects of the system:

• RF Transmitter operation
• APAC3 Data Acquisition
• Display and Analysis Software
• System Integration
• Radar Operations
• System Maintenance

The training was performed on their own radar equipment - this is one of the earliest radars supplied by ATRAD but was returned from its home in Pontianak to effect extensive repairs after the radar was damaged by lightning strikes.

The radar site in Pontianak is situated 300 metres off the equatorial line in the jungle of Borneo.

In summary their visit was highly successful.
