New large-scale MF radar for Andoya, Norway

ATRAD has completed the supply and installation of a large-scale Medium Frequency (MF) radar for The Institute for Atmospheric Physics (IAP) in Germany.

The installation site is at near the European Space Agency's Andoya rocket range at Andenes in northern part of Norway. The installation had to be fully operational to support a meteorological rocket launch campaign for the European Space Agency that started in June 2002.

ATRAD deployed a team of three engineers and scientists to meet the tight deadline. The rocket campaign itself was very successful, with the new MF radar performing extremely well throughout the campaign and thereafter.
