Left: View of the Wakkanai VHF ST Radar array. The hut containing the radar hardware can be seen directly behind the antenna array.
Right: The feeder cables connecting the transmitter/receiver (located in hut) to the splitter boxes and then the individual antennas can be readily seen running along the ground. Another point of interest is the diversity of conditions in which the radar must operating when comparing this picture and the one below (taken at different times of year).
Left: Close up view of the array. Splitter boxs can be seen (centre of picture) with feeders cables attached to the nearby yagis exiting from it. The yagis are matched to the line via gamma matches which can be seen hanging beneath the driven element (middle one). Insulated guidewires for extra support connect neighbouring yagis (or the ground for yagis on the edge of the array) via fasteners attached above the driven element.
