Professor Iain Reid, B.Sc. (Hons.), PhD, DSc, FAIP, FIP(UK), SMIEEE

Professor Reid has over 30 years of experience in the area of remote sensing of the atmosphere and near space region using both radar and optical techniques. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Adelaide in 1985. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Space and Atmospheric Science at the University of Saskatchewan from 1984 until 1985, and then as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy in Germany until the end of 1988. He then returned to the University of Adelaide.  In 2008 he was awarded the DSc by the University. He is a Professor of Physics in the School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Adelaide. Presently, he is Executive Dean of the University’s Roseworthy Campus, and Deputy Director of the Adelaide Radar Research Centre. He has been a board member for a number of Adelaide University related companies.

Professor Reid is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, the Institute of Physics (UK), and a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is the Australian Discipline Representative for the International Scientific Committee on Solar and Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) and is a member of the Australian National Committee for Space Science, and the Australian Institute of Physics National Committee on Solar Terrestrial Physics.
